4th Annual 9/11 Memorial Stairclimb - Austin, TX

On September 11, 2001, 2,977 lives were lost - including 343 firefighters who climbed the towers to save others. Each year, we come together to honor their sacrifice and the resilience of a nation that stood strong in the face of tragedy.

Why We Climb

The 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb is a tradition that pays tribute to the courage shown that day. Participants climb 2,200 steps to represent the 110 stories of the Twin Towers. Each step serves as a reminder of the firefighters, police officers, and civilians who never made it home.

This event isn’t just about fitness - it’s about carrying forward a legacy of service, sacrifice, and unity.

Event Details

  • Date: September 11, 2025
  • Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Location: Mt. Bonnell, Austin, TX
  • Cost: Free event + free parking
  • Hydration: Free water provided (limited supply—come prepared for the heat)

Mt. Bonnell has approximately 106 steps. This year, we’ll climb them 22 times to reach 2,200 steps (the equivalent of the Twin Towers). For an added challenge, participants are encouraged to bring a weighted vest to simulate the gear firefighters carried into danger that day.

A Community Effort

This is not a race. It’s a collective effort. Everyone is welcome, whether you come alone or with a group. The climb will be tough, and the Texas heat will make it tougher, but we climb side by side, for those who can’t.

Closing Thoughts

The stair climb is about more than physical endurance. It’s about remembering sacrifice, building camaraderie, and honoring a day that changed us all.

Join us this September 11 at Mt. Bonnell as we climb, remember, and honor the fallen together.

Honor the fallen. Push your limits. Remember why.
