Murph 2025 Recap: Community, Sweat, and Purpose

This past weekend, over 100 athletes, veterans, and community members came together for our annual Murph workout. The weather was perfect, the energy was high, and the mission was clear: show up, put in the work, and honor the meaning behind this day.

What the Murph Workout Means

The Murph is more than a workout. Named in honor of Navy SEAL Lt. Michael P. Murphy, who gave his life in Afghanistan in 2005, it has become a Memorial Day tradition across the country. It’s a test of endurance, grit, and unity - reminding us that the pain we feel in a workout is nothing compared to the sacrifice made by so many in service to others.

The workout itself is simple but brutal:

  • 1 mile run
  • 100 pull-ups
  • 200 push-ups
  • 300 air squats
  • 1 mile run

Some athletes wear a weighted vest to honor the gear carried into battle. Others scale as needed. But no matter how you finish, what matters is showing up and giving your all.

Highlights from the Day

This year’s Murph turnout in Georgetown brought together about 100 people. Some came alone, some with friends, some with entire gym crews - but once the clock started, everyone became teammates. You could hear the cheering, the encouragement, and the reminders to keep pushing. Strangers became training partners. Teammates held each other accountable. That kind of energy doesn’t fade, it carries forward.

The most powerful part of the event wasn’t the workout itself, it was the camaraderie. Everyone was there for something bigger than themselves, and that’s what makes the Murph special year after year.

Thank You to Our Sponsors

Events like this don’t happen without support, and we’re grateful for the partners who showed up to make the day even better:

  • Bare Performance Nutrition (BPN): Nutrition sponsor keeping athletes fueled.
  • El Hombre Tacos: Food truck vendor serving up post-workout meals.
  • Argullo Coffee: Providing coffee to keep energy levels high.
  • ON Running: On-course training shoe demos.
  • ASICS, Burlebo, and ON Running: Raffle prize giveaways.

Your support made this event not only possible but memorable.

What’s Next: The 9/11 Memorial Stairclimb

We’re not slowing down. The next community event will be our 4th Annual 9/11 Memorial Stairclimb, taking place at Mt. Bonnell in Austin on September 11, 2025, from 6–8 PM.

This workout honors the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001, including the 343 firefighters who climbed the towers to save others. Participants will take on Mt. Bonnell’s 106 steps, completing 22 climbs for a total of 2,200 steps—symbolizing the 110 stories of the Twin Towers. It’s free to join, free to park, and water will be provided (though we recommend coming prepared, as the heat will be real). For those who want an added challenge, bring a weighted vest to simulate the gear worn by the firefighters that day.

Everyone is welcome.

Closing Thoughts

The Murph reminded us why we come together in the first place: to work, to honor, and to grow as a community. Events like this aren’t just workouts, they’re opportunities to remember, to connect, and to prove to ourselves what we’re capable of when we show up with purpose.

If you missed the Murph this year, don’t miss the Stairclimb. Step in, push hard, and be part of something bigger.
